It&#8217;s especially helpful for neurodivergent children, including those with Autism, ADHD, and sensory processing differences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We at Awesome Archie have created some FREE resources to support you. In school and at home emotional support.\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WiuUFGyti5U?start=7&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2> <strong>The 4 Zones of Regulation:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each <strong>zone<\/strong> is represented by a color and associated with different emotional and physical states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>\ud83d\udd35 <strong>Blue Zone \u2013 Low State of Alert<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul><li><strong>Feelings:<\/strong> Sad, tired, bored, sick, low energy<\/li><li><strong>What it means:<\/strong> You may need rest, comfort, or gentle stimulation<\/li><li><strong>Examples:<\/strong> A child who\u2019s lethargic after school or upset after a hard morning<\/li><li><strong>Tools that may help:<\/strong> Cuddles, quiet music, rest, a snack, gentle movement<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>\ud83d\udfe2 <strong>Green Zone \u2013 Just Right<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul><li><strong>Feelings:<\/strong> Calm, focused, happy, ready to learn, content<\/li><li><strong>What it means:<\/strong> You&#8217;re regulated and functioning well<\/li><li><strong>Examples:<\/strong> Feeling good during playtime, focused in class, enjoying a walk<\/li><li><strong>Tools that may help:<\/strong> Praise, encouragement, continue what\u2019s working<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>\ud83d\udfe1 <strong>Yellow Zone \u2013 Heightened State<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul><li><strong>Feelings:<\/strong> Frustrated, silly, worried, anxious, excited, overwhelmed<\/li><li><strong>What it means:<\/strong> You&#8217;re still in control, but starting to become dysregulated<\/li><li><strong>Examples:<\/strong> Wiggling a lot, talking fast, feeling worried or distracted<\/li><li><strong>Tools that may help:<\/strong> Deep breaths, a movement break, fidgets, calming strategies<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3>\ud83d\udd34 <strong>Red Zone \u2013 Extremely Dysregulated<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul><li><strong>Feelings:<\/strong> Angry, terrified, out of control, aggressive, panicked, elated<\/li><li><strong>What it means:<\/strong> You&#8217;re overwhelmed and need help to calm down and feel safe<\/li><li><strong>Examples:<\/strong> Meltdowns, hitting, yelling, panic attacks, running off<\/li><li><strong>Tools that may help:<\/strong> Safe space, weighted blanket, adult support, time to decompress<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2>\ud83e\udde0 Key Things to Remember:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul><li><strong>No zone is &#8220;bad.&#8221;<\/strong> All emotions are valid\u2014it\u2019s about learning how to manage them.<\/li><li>Kids (and adults!) move between zones throughout the day.<\/li><li>The goal isn\u2019t to always be in the Green Zone, but to <strong>recognize your zone<\/strong> and know what tools help you regulate.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.awesomearchie.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Zones_of_Regulation.pdf\">Zones_of_Regulation<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.awesomearchie.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Zones_of_Regulation.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Zones of Regulation is a widely used framework designed to help children (and adults) better understand and manage their emotions, energy levels, and self-regulation.
